Vietnamnet Online and the in-house Tax magazine of the Department of Tax held a ceremony to honor the country’s top 1,000 corporate-tax contributors in Hanoi.
The top 10 tax payers were State-owned enterprises contributing from VND25.77 trillion (US$1.24 billion) in 2010 to an estimated VND64.840 trillion ($3.13 billion) in 2011.
The V1000 report revealed that 16.3 percent of firms entered the list for the first time. Amongst these, state-owned and private enterprises occupied 42.9 percent and 31.3 percent of the slots, respectively. Foreign-invested enterprises represented 25.8 percent.
Contributions from direct-foreign investments doubled from VND19,842 billion in 2010 to VND38,914 billion in 2011, representing a 1 per cent rise in the V1000 ranking list in 2011.
The top 10 enterprises were: Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group; Petro Vietnam Exploration and Production Corporation; Vietsov Petro Joint Venture Enterprise; Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petro Vietnam); Military Telecommunication Group (Viettel); Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company; Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group; Petro Vietnam Gas Corporation; Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank).
Information and data of enterprises was collected from VNR500, VNR Biz Database, data sourcing from the country's two major bourses HNX and HOSE, and from 3,000 company records sent to Vietnam Report for checking and verification.
