Around 5,000 hectares of coffee in Dak Lak could wither if they fail to be watered soon and authorities in the Central Highlands province have ordered local authorities to mobilize personnel to help water the trees.

Three out of six irrigation canals have dried up in Phu Xuan Ward in Krong Nang District and four in Cu Ne Ward in Krong Buk District.

In these and some other districts, farmers have planted the trees on hills far from rivers or canals.

They have been able to water the trees only two times so far this dry season against a requirement of three times.
