Rah Lan Tuan, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee of Gia Lai, said deputies had proposed the plan to upgrade the An Khe Water Plant because the plant used water from the Ba River, which is heavily polluted from factories and businesses discharging wastewater directly into the river.

Moreover, the An Khe Water Plant is badly in need of repair and can not provide water for daily needs of residents in the province.

At the meeting, deputies also asked the People’s Committee to check activities of carpentry factories in the area and stop issuing licenses to any new wood processing units so as to protect the forests in the province.
