Nhon Trach District People’s Court in the southern province of Dong Nai yesterday announced 10-16 month sentences to 12 people for causing public disorder in protests against China on May 13 and 14.
According to the verdict of the district People’s Procuracy, the 12 offenders followed groups of people who were gathering to protest against China’s illegal oil rig placement in Vietnamese waters beginning at 9 p.m. on May 13.
They then demolished properties of companies in industrial zones in the district, screamed and incited the crowd to do ater them.
