ECHO Funds Nearly 100 Tons of Rice to Flood Victims

With the support of the International Save the Children Alliance in the UK and the Vietnamese Red Cross Society, the European Community Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) provided rice and gifts to the flood victims in the central city and province of Da Nang and Quang Nam.

A total of 34.65 tons of rice and 360 packages of necessities were handed over to more than 1,500 households in the wards including Hoa Xuan in Cam Le District and Hoa Phuoc, Hoa Tien, Hoa Bac in Hoa Vang District in Da Nang City.

In addition the ECHO also gave 60 tons of rice and 720 packages of necessities to the disadvantaged in Quang Nam Province’s districts such as Duy Xuyen and Dien Ban.

Established in 1992 by the Second Delors Commission, the European Community Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) is the European Commission's department for humanitarian aid.

Funding from the office benefits 18 million people every year in 60 countries. It spends €700 million a year on humanitarian projects and has over 200 partners.
