Establishment proposed for Vietnamese Traditional Fish Sauce Association

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development yesterday said that there was a decision to establish an advocacy board for establishment of Vietnamese Traditional Fish Sauce Association.

Accordingly, the ministry sent a dispatch to the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment about the association establishment which is the legitimate aspiration of fish sauce associations during the past time. 

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, the ministry has been suggesting the Ministry of Home Affairs to promote the establishment.

Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also suggested the Ministry of Health to assess risks, review all criterions of histamine and heavy metal in accordance with regulations in Standard QCVN 08-2: 2011 to suit the conditions of fish sauce production in Vietnam and create a legal basis for related ministries and agencies to build fish sauce industry regulations and standards.

Basing on these regulations and standards along with practical surveys, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will early build and complete the national technical regulations for fishery products and fish sauce to ensure food safety.
