The villages have been without electricity for years.

The goal is to bring power to an estimated 116,000 people in 1,200 different villages throughout the five central provinces.

The project will cost more than VND1 billion, of which the state budget makes up 85 % and the rest is from EVN.

Construction will begin in January 2008 and will be completed by December, 2009.

The plan represents a manifestation of the Vietnamese government’s determination to raise the standard of living of ethnic minorities and help to stabilize their lives.
