Over the years a 71-year-old American Vietnamese has given VND829 million (around US$52,000) to the people of Ben Tre, the province where she was born, for building houses, bridges and roads.
Her money has been used to build 30 concrete bridges, six 2.5-kilometer roads and seven houses in remote areas, and buying rice for the poor.
Another American Vietnamese, Ms. Tran Thi An Nhien, has been even more generous to the people back home, sending VND1.2 billion (around US$75,000) to build roads and a bridge.
