Police in Sa Pa district, northern Lao Cai province, and local rescue forces were still searching on May 3 for the body of a US visitor who fell to a whirlpool in Ca Nhay waterfall in Ban Ho village.
According to Nguyen Van Hoan, chief of Sapa district’s police, the victim, Cottr Hnolivev born in 1983, fell to the whirlpool at 15h on May 2, while swimming in Ca Nhay fall together with two visitors, an American and a British, and two Vietnamese guides.
Ca Nhay Fall in Ban Ho is a beautiful place located at the foot of Hoang Lien Son mountain. There are many deep caves and whirlpools in the area.
Cottr Hnolivev is the first foreign victim of accidents in this tourist spot. Earlier, two Vietnamese were drowned when they were swimming in there.
