Fourteen injured Russian tourists taken home

The 14 Russian tourists injured in the deadly bus crash at the Dai Ninh Pass in Phan Thiet Province March 13 have been sent home to Russia for further treatment.

They were accompanied by a team of Russian doctors and psychiatrists who arrived in Ho Chi Minh City aboard a special aircraft earlier on March 16.

They were dispatched by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Since all the victims were doing well at Cho Ray Hospital, the Russian experts decided it was OK for them to be transported back home.

They appreciated the treatment given to the victims at the hospital.

At 3:20 p.m. more than 10 ambulances transported the patients to Tan Son Nhat Airport where the aircraft, equipped with all the necessary medical equipment, was waiting.

In the morning, Deputy Minister of Police and deputy standing chairman of the National Safe Traffic Committee Lieutenant General Tran Dai Quang visited the hospital to offer flowers and words of consolation to the victims.

He told the Russian delegation that an investigation is being conducted to find out the cause of the accident.

Mr. Quang expressed condolences to the Russian Government and the families of the dead and injured. Nine Russian tourists died when the bus plunged off a cliff.
