Government to build stations to monitor river water quality on borders

The Government has instructed the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to finalize a strategy for the use of fresh water resources and to build stations along international borders to monitor the quality of river waters flowing into the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai ordered the construction of state-of-the-art stations to monitor the 200-odd rivers flowing into Viet Nam from China, Laos, and Cambodia.

Vietnam faces a possible water shortage though around 500 billion cubic meters of water flow in from neighboring countries every year.
