Hanoi’s first BRT route officially put into service

Hanoi department of Transport yesterday officially put its first bus rapid transit (BRT) route into service.

The BRT route from Kim Ma to Yen Nghia bus station is Hanoi’s first BRT and also in the country contributing improving public transport in the capital.

As per plan, BRT line No.1 will serve passengers with 17 hours a day starting at 5am to 10pm.

The BRT project has total investment capital of US$ 53,6million; the tickets cost VND 7,000 per client however, from now till January 31, 2017 passengers will be served free of charge.

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, Deputy Chairman Nguyen Quoc Hung and deputy chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Khuat Viet Hung took the first BRT at the launch ceremony.
