HCMC builds Nguyen Huu Canh Temple

The Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City yesterday held a solemn groundbreaking ceremony inside the Park of Ethnic Culture and History in district 9, HCMC to build Nguyen Huu Canh Temple.

Attending at the ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Chairwoman of Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City Vo Thi Dung and city leaders.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman Quan stressed that the construction of Nguyen Huu Canh temple aims to pay tribute to Nguyen Huu Canh, who established Vietnamese people's territorial sovereignty in Saigon and the Gia Dinh region in 1698. The event also is to mark the 40th anniversary of the Southern liberation and national reunification.
This construction is to express a humanity deep mean and national pride, it  is part of practical activities of Party, Government and people to pay their gratitude to the revolutionary devoting persons in the struggle for independence and freedom of the country, added chairman Quan.
Moreover, the temple will be a place to reserve the nation’s traditional cultural and historic value, aiming to educate young generations about patriotism, solidarity and national pride.
