HCMC Vice Chairman Slams the Slackers

Even though he demanded they be on his desk by the end of August, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung has yet to receive any reports about high-profile cases of corruption and waste from Vietnam’s municipal authorities, let alone any steps taken to address the rot.

And so on Saturday, a month after the reports were due, vice chairman Nguyen Van Dua of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee in turn strongly criticized district chairmen, managers of State-run enterprises and others of the city’s senior government employees for being so slack in responding to Mr. Dzung’s directive.
