A man was cut into two following a collision yesterday between an express hydrofoil and a ferry on Nha Be River in southern Dong Nai Province.
The accident reportedly happened around lunchtime when the express hydrofoil hit the ferry, whose sole passenger, Nguyen Van Bien, 56, fell into the river and was cut in half. The upper half of the Bien's body, a docker, was found yesterday.
Owned by Sai Gon Shipping Services and Travel Agency (VinaExpress), the express hydrofoil, whose license number is 126N SG-3837, is based in HCMC.
In related news, 97 passengers on another hydrofoil heading to Vung Tau City from HCMC had a narrow escape when it hit a barge.
One man was injured by shattered glass pieces from the hydrofoil window.
The hydrofoil, Greenlines 05, belonging to the city-based Greenlines Company, was damaged seriously in the accident.
