International Labor Organization to prevent child labor

The International Labor Organization (ILO) has donated U$130,000 for a project to prevent child labor in Dien An and Dien Phuoc communes of Dien Bien District in Quang Nam Province.

The project will also stretch to the Duy Nghia and Duy Vinh communes in Duy Xuyen District and A Tieng commune of Tay Giang District in Quang Nam Province.

According to a representative from ILO, the goal is to stop child labor in the seafood processing, footwear manufacturing, weaving, construction, gold exploration and other such harmful industries.

From now on until September 2012, Quang Nam province will raise public awareness and provide vocational training courses to 1,400 children. In addition, 500 poor households will receive guidance through approach programmes to learn how to invest in various resources and improve their lives.
