Laos, Vietnam lift their special relationship

Vietnam would do its utmost to work with Laos to develop the two countries' special relationship to a higher level, affirmed Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Trong made the statement yesterday while receiving a delegation from the Propaganda and Training Board of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, led by Cheuang Sombounkhan, who is also the Lao Party Secretary.

Sombounkhan spoke highly of the results of the delegation's working visit to Vietnam and co-operation results between the board and the Communist Party Central Committee's Commission for Publicity and Information of Vietnam over the past years. He affirmed the two sides would continue working closely with each other, increasing experience sharing and mutual assistance.

Trong hoped that the two organisations would co-organise activities in celebration of the "Year of Friendship and Solidarity between Vietnam and Laos" next year.

He urged the two bodies to make full use of means of mass communication to put Party resolutions into practice.

Somboundkhan informed Trong of results of talks held earlier between two sides and reiterated that the board attached great importance to experience sharing with its Vietnamese counterpart.

At talks held earlier, the two sides exchanged experiences and discussed issues of co-operation for the coming year.

During its visit to Vietnam, the delegation visited the northern mountainous Dien Bien Province, the Vietnam News Agency and the Radio the Voice of Vietnam.
