Leather Firm Warned On Wastewater

The city’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment warned Hao Duong Leather Co., Ltd. that its wastewater treatment must be maintained effectively or the manufacturing step which caused pollution will be suspended.

Following a complaint by a citizen in suburban Nha Be, the department inspected the firm’s facilities on Wednesday.

Mr. Tang Van Duc, chief executive of the company, explained that his firm expanded in the end of last year.

This overloaded its existing sewage system while a new one was under construction. Hao Duong had taken responsibility for the pollution and expedited the building of the new sewage system, which will have a capacity of 2,500 cubic meters a day.

The company also constructed mud drying system. The new sewage disposal system is now in use.

The pollution situation had improved by inspection time, said Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc, vice director of the department.

If Hao Duong reoffended, the manufacturing process which caused the pollution would be suspended, he added.
