New Zealand to take 200 Vietnamese workers

New Zealand will recruit 100 Vietnamese skilled cooks and 100 engineers for three years, said James Kember, the New Zealand ambassador, August 3.

Workers receive vocational training before they go abroad.

The ambassador was speaking at a meeting with the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Welfare, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

New Zealand also agreed to enter negotiations on a bilateral working holiday scheme with Vietnam.

If the agreement is signed, Vietnamese employees will have chance to improve their professional skills and knowledge as well as increase their income, Ms. Ngan said.

The scheme is also an opportunity for cooperation between both workers and employers between the two countries, Ms. Ngan added.
