Over 30 mln kids receive support

The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) has raised over VND5.5 trillion ($241.8 million) and thousands of tons of rice to give to 30 million children, said director of NFVC Hoang Van Tien.

Dr. Hoang Van Tien at the meeting said that NFVC is the only official state foundation set up by the government as per the Law of Children Protection to take care of and educate kids nationwide by calling contribution of local and abroad benefactors.

From now to 2020, the fund will strive to  raise VND80 billion a year so that it will support 55,000 kids from low-income families each year.

Speaking at the anniversary celebration, Vice President Dang Thi  Ngoc Thinh said that the fund has developed gradually for 25 years with meaningful programs.

At the ceremony, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai handed the certificates of merit signed by the Prime Minister to six individuals and teams that greatly contributed to taking care of children for a long time.
