“Ox bank” project helps people in disadvantaged districts escape poverty

Implemented since 2010, the project “Ox bank” of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has given nearly 20,000 breed ox to poor households in the country to assist them in sustainably escape poverty.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society held a meeting to review its project's implementation. President Truong Tan Sang, honorable chairman of the society, said at the meeting that it is a very meaningful and humanity project attracting the attention of many sectors and international organization; accordingly the project is highly appreciated by international societies.

It is considered an effective project in response to the United Nation’s Goal for Sustainable Development by 2030.

President Sang said that the Party, the government highly appreciated the leading role of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in charity activities in general and valuable contribution of society staffs and volunteers, aiming to help eliminate poverty and eradicate hunger as well as keep the national safety and defense in border crossings.

The president believed that with the contribution of the sectors, benefactors and locality’s governments, the Red Cross Society will better the project to play its part in eliminating poverty in border crossings and disadvantaged districts.
