Photo competition on climate change launched in Vietnam

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Agency of France Development and the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam today invited young photographers in the country to submit photographs on the theme “Youth pledge to cope with climate change”

Entries can be sent individually or by group from July 22 to August 25. Entries include two to five photos featuring ideas, locations or procedures of before-and-after activities relating to climate change.
The competition includes five weekly prizes each worth VND1 million ($43,127) which are selected by counting the number of likes and shares in Facebook.
The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled to take place in the end of September.
Photographer Nguyen Viet Hung (known as Lekima Hung) who has traveled along 3,000km of coastline in 28 cities and provinces and more than 100 estuaries to take 3,000 photos with the themes “Save our seas” or “Act now” with the aim to call for reduction of plastic waste will accompany with the competition.
Head of Ho Chi Minh Committee of Communist Youth Union Nguyen Binh Minh said that participants in the competition not only engage in activities but also have ideas and solutions relating to climate change.
