‘Pink Summer Vacation 2018’ aims at helping remote areas

The 12th campaign ‘Pink Summer Vacation 2018’ focuses on meaningful activities to aid people in need in remote areas such as the communes of Da Phuoc, Tan Quy Tay, An Phu Tay of Binh Chanh District in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), or residents of the southern provinces of Long An, Hau Giang, and Bac Lieu.

The campaign ‘Pink Summer Vacation 2018’ was officially launched yesterday at the HCMC’s Children Center. Taking part in the campaign are 3,000 members of the Communist Youth Union of HCMC.

This is the campaign to celebrate the 25th anniversary (1994 – 2018) of voluntary summer campaigns of the city.

The campaign this year focuses on activities to help residents in remote areas, including constructing charity houses for poor people, improving 6 rural routes with concrete, delivering 12 scholarships and 50 presents to families under preferential treatment policy, gifting new textbooks and notebooks to poor children, organizing arts shows, performing medical examination and delivering medicine for 1,500 residents, donating 500 units of blood.

Right after the launching ceremony, participants began their first task of improving the route in Group 1 of Hamlet 3 and open the rural road in Group 18, Hamlet 1 of An Phu Tay Commune in Binh Chanh District.

Simultaneously, the volunteers started the construction of the charity house for Mr. Phung Chi Tam, who lives at 449A/18 Group 18, Hamlet 1, An Phu Tay Commune of Binh Chanh District, with the expense of VND25 million (approx. $1,085) financed by the Department of External Relations – Ho Chi Minh City.

One of the tasks of the campaign this time is the propaganda of the skills for children to protect themselves from sexual abuse and the organization of the ‘lightening children’s dreams’ program to deliver new textbooks and notebooks to 250 poor pupils in Binh Chanh District.

The campaign ‘Pink Summer Vacation 2018’ lasts from July 7 to August 12.
