The Prime Minister has approved a project to improve energy efficiency in commercial buildings and apartment blocks in Vietnam.

The program will be implemented in four years with a total fund of US$22.5 million. Of these, the Global Environmental Fund of the United Nations Development Program provides a non-refundable aid of US$3.1 million and Vietnamese side will finance US$19.2 million.
The project aims to reduce 236,382 tons of carbon emissions by improving energy use efficiency in buildings in Hanoi and HCMC.
Some models of commercial buildings using energy efficiency technologies will be built during the implementation of the project.
