He was speaking while visiting the construction site of an aluminum factory in the complex, its largest project.
The Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), the investor, briefed him on the factory’s progress, including site clearance, compensation, and other issues.
The plant, which will use modern technologies and waste treatment system, is expected to go on stream by the middle of 2010.
PM Dung appreciated TKV for ensuring the project’s progress.
He also appreciated the Bao Lam District and Lam Dong Province authorities and people for their assistance in clearing the site and resettling residents, enabling the project to get off the ground.
TKV should ensure that the factory operates on schedule and families moved to the resettlement area are taken care of, he said. People from these families should be given jobs in the factory, he added.
The PM later attended a ceremony held by TKV to hand over houses to ethnic minority people in the resettlement area. It gave away 26 houses worth VND78 million (US$4,457) each.
