Quang Nam fishermen equipped with ICOM devices

As many as 50 ICOM radio devices have been given to fishermen from the central province of Quang Nam, enabling them to contact the mainland as needed during offshore fishing operations.

The devices, worth a total of VND 1.2 billion (US$ 56,000) funded by the provincial programme “For Offshore Vessels”, were handed over on April 1 by Quang Nam’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Border Guard Command.

On the occasion, the programme received VND 700 million (US$ 32,700) from people from northern Hai Phong city.

Earlier, the programme provided VND 1.5 billion (US$ 70,000) to help fishermen repair and buy fishing tools and assist border soldiers in difficult circumstances in Cu Lao Cham island commune.
