Relief Work Must Be Given Top Priority: PM

“Relevant agencies and officials must put all of their resources into relief work to help flood-hit areas and assist local residents to get back to their lives”, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday.

The Prime Minister also gave his condolences to flood victims and expressed his appreciation to local officials’ for their tireless efforts in flood prevention and their rescue work during the floods.

Appropriate action must be swiftly undertaken in the affected areas. It is imperative to restore the roads and the communication system, rebuild local properties, and provide financial assistance and medical aid to the flood victims, stressed PM Dung.

Funds from the national budget provided residents in the flood-hit areas with 30 tons of corn and 62.156 tons of seeds in an attempt to help resume local business and agriculture.

The raging flood continues to wreak more havoc and has left 16 people dead and three people are still missing in the central provinces of Viet Nam.
