Russian Prime Minister to visit Vietnam

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on a three-day official visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Two-way trade reached US$280 million in 2010, a jump of 241 per cent over 2009. In 2011, it reached $482 million, up 72 per cent over 2010.

And in the first seven months of this year, it reached $186 million, with Vietnamese exports accounting for $169.5 million.

These exports include rice, cloth, plastic products, rattan, bamboo and sedge products, carpets, rubber, computers, electronics, china and pottery.

Viet Nam imports pharmaceuticals, garments, fabrics, electronic components and fertiliser from the South Asian country. Since diplomatic relations were set up in 1973, several top-level visits have been made by senior officials.

The two nations set up a committee to discuss economics, trade, culture and science-technology in 1997. Its second meeting will be held later this year.

They also regularly co-operate at international forums, including the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and ASEAN

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will pay an official visit to Vietnam from November 6-7, announced the Foreign Ministry on November 1.

The visit is made at an invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung, the announcement added.
