Approved by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to have a new office built, the SGGP Newspaper cooperated with the Ho Chi Minh City Architects Association to hold a design contest.

The architects had to meet requirements of design and practical usage. Also, the contesting designs must be able to be developed into a construction project.

Architect Le Van Nam, Chairman of the Architecture Council (Ho Chi Minh City Architects Association) and the Selection Committee said although design projects did not meet the objectives optimally, they were well-prepared and well-presented.The selected design needs to be modified and improved from the experience of the contest.

Addressing the awarding ceremony, Duong Trong Dat, Chief Editor of the SGGP Newspaper, said the construction of the SGGP Newspaper Office Center aims to meet the creteria of a modern media office, a cultural work, as well as a professional press center.

This is a big project not only of the SGGP Newspaper but also of Ho Chi Minh City.

A concrete construction project needs to be modified and completed to harmonize with the Ho Chi Minh City’s cultural architecture, in accordance with the criteria of demonstrating the national identities and modern traits as well as facilitating press activities at its best.
