Scandinavian nations finance $27.5 mln for Vietnam's legal reform

Denmark and Sweden will provide €18.7 million (US$27.5 million) to Vietnam to effect legal reform, the Danish Embassy in Hanoi announced on September 9.

Denmark and other partners will also cooperate with Vietnam for a legal program aimed at simplifying administration procedures.

Denmark will help Vietnam make better use of official development assistance from donors.

The program will be implemented over five years starting 2010.

The Vietnamese and Swedish governments began a legal cooperation program in 1991, including a three-phase project for legal training.
