Second session of National Assembly closes

The second session of the 13th National Assembly wrapped up in Hanoi on Nov. 26 after 29 days of working.

Addressing the closing ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the NA reviewed the implementation of the five-year socio-economic development plan for 2006-2010 period and the socio-economic development plan and State budget estimates and allocations in 2011.

The session adopted resolutions on the socio-economic development plans for 2012 and the 2011-2015 period and decided a wide range of important issues of the country.

NA deputies questioned four ministers and the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, with a number of deputy Prime Ministers and other ministers explaining related issues

The Prime Minister also answered deputies’ questions and made clear a number of major issues on the Government’s management work. The NA’s Q&A session was further streamlined to be more practical, focusing on issues of voters’ concern in a democratic, frank, responsible and constructive manner.

NA Chairman Hung said the National Assembly made progress in preparing for the session and presiding over meetings to uphold the collective brainpower and sense of responsibility of agencies and National Assembly deputies. The National Assembly’s resolutions are more specific and clearly define tasks, measures and responsibilities of relevant agencies and organisations in the implementation process.

The legislative leader asked the NA Standing Committee, the Government, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, branches and sectors to soon devise programmes and plans to effectively implement newly adopted laws and resolutions.

The NA called on people nationwide and overseas Vietnamese to assist recent flood victims and exert efforts to surmount difficulties and challenges to successfully implement targets.

Before the closing ceremony, the NA adopted the Cryptography Law, a resolution on questioning and answering and a resolution on monitoring the implementation of environmental policy and law at economic zones and craft villages.
