Six Dead, Nine Injured in Highway Accident

An accident involving two cars and two motorbikes early morning yesterday on Highway No.1A has left six people dead and nine seriously injured.

The accident occurred at around 6am in Dong Hoa Hiep Commune, Cai Be District in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.
Preliminary investigations show that a passenger car (66S-1926) was being driven by Phan Viet Hung, 53, a resident of My Phu Ward in Cao Lanh City, on the Vinh Long – Trung Luong route when it suddenly hit a motorbike (66N2-0456) that was going in the opposite direction.
Hung then lost control of the steering and his car swerved to the wrong side of the road, hitting another motorbike (63F7-8827) and car (95T-0422) in quick succession. The driver of the second motorbike was Ngo Van Muoi, a 42 year old resident of An Binh Village in Cai Be District.
The personal details of the victims are being verified by local authorities investigating the accident, and have not yet been made public.
