Soldiers, people in remote areas get Tet gifts

The Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee ( HCMC FFC) gave Tet gifts, including 6,861 wristwatches, to naval troops stationed on the Truong Sa archipelago yesterday.

Tran Thanh Long, HCMC FFC chairman, who handed over the gifts, said the committee would set up a “For the Truong Sa archipelago” fund to support the soldiers and medical personnel working in scientific research stations (DK1) on Truong Sa.

Vu Van Tien, deputy chief of staff of the Navy’s Zone No.4, visited Phu Quy Island in Binh Thuan Province and Con Dao island and met with soldiers, local authorities, and residents.

Other kind souls have also been giving Tet gifts.

Sai Gon Giai Phong gave VND15 million to 50 disadvantaged families affected by the recent floods in Dien Phong Commune in the central province of Quang Nam.

The Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority gave away gifts worth VND200,000 each to 100 of the most disadvantaged workers at the Tan Thoi Hiep Industrial Zone in the city’s District 12.
