The hot weather is likely to last until the middle of April, with temperatures in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City climbing above 38 degrees, and in the Mekong Delta to 34-36 degrees, the weather bureau said.

The northern and north-central regions have been experiencing scorching weather in the last two days, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecast.

The non-coastal parts of provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue too have been experiencing hot weather.

A cold spell is expected in the northern region from March 24, ending the hot weather.
