Student rescuing drown man bestowed posthumously

A 17 year old student Nguyen Anh Tuan of Thanh Chuong 3 Senior High School in the central province of Nghe An, who died while trying to save the life of a 22-year-old boy on July 19, 2015 has been awarded posthumously a Medal of Bravery signed by Vietnamese President and a certificate of merit from Minister of Education.

A meeting was held in the school yesterday to give the medal and certificate of merit.

Before, on 10.30 AM on July 19, Anh Tuan with his mother went to Gia wharf in Lam River in Cat Van Commune in Thanh Chuong District to rake baby clam. While he was working in the wharf, he heard a shout for help, Tuan was quick to swim to pull 10 year old kid, Hoang Anh, out of the water and then Tuan Anh continued to rescue 22 year old Tran Van Son.

However, because of deep water and strong flow plus exhaustion, Tuan and Son were swept away.

Before, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union had posthumously bestowed a Medal of Young Bravery to Anh Tuan.
