Southern search and rescue teams have launched emergency measures to prevent oil leaking from the Duc Tri BWEG, which sank off the coast of La Gi town in southern Binh Thuan province.
The vessel reportedly sank because of rough sea. One sailor was saved by a fishing boat and is now at the Ba Ria Hospital in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. However, 14 other sailors, including the captain, are still missing.
Oil has not leaked from the vessel yet, but the threat of an oil spill remains high, rescuers said.
