Tap water samples in Hanoi safe to use

Concerning fresh water supply incident, the Hanoi Department of Health yesterday confirmed that the quality of tap water in the capital is safe to use after test results showed that styrene concentration in the water is within the normal limits.

The Department has asked the capital city Disease Control Center and the Institute of Environment to take water samples from the Song Da Water Investment JSC (Viwasupco) for testing.
The two agencies have taken four samples of water from the supplier for testing of Styren, a volatile organic compounds.
Additionally, relevant agencies also took 15 samples of water from households in districts Thanh Xuan, Hoang Mai, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem and Hoai Duc.
All samples met the quality of tap water especially Styren concentration as per the national standards.
In the upcoming days, the Disease Control Center and the Institute of Environment , the National Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health, the Ministry of Health will continue taking samples of water from the company and households for testing.
