Speaking at a meeting with local authorities, the Party leader praised their efforts at dealing with the aftermath of typhoon Xangsane asking them to continue helping victims return to normal life as soon as possible.

According to Mr. Manh, the local authorities should also accelerate administrative reform, give priority to the development of local business enterprises and increase the quality of human resources to meet the growing demands of socio-economic development.

He also advised them to develop and implement preferential policies to attract domestic and foreign investors, especially those from Ho Chi Minh City.

During the trip, the General Secretary visited the Long Hung Temple Monument in Chau Thanh district, where many exhibits featuring photos of the Southern Region Uprising in 1940 are being displayed.

He also gave presents to beneficiaries and heroic Vietnamese mothers and burned incense in memory of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thap, ex-chairwoman of the Vietnamese Women’s Union and one of the leaders of the Southern region Uprising in My Tho.
