Transport Ministry selects lotus design for Long Thanh Airport

The Ministry of Transport yesterday selected lotus shaped terminal design for Long Thanh International Airport at a meeting presided over by Minister Truong Quang Nghia.

According to Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh, chairman of the Aviation Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV)’s board of directors, architectural plans for Long Thanh Airport have been showcased to collect public feedback in three cities Hanoi, HCMC and Da Nang and Dong Nai province.
The corporation has also got opinions from Vietnam Association of Architects, Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, the Federation of Civil Engineering Associations, Vietnam Association on Aviation Science and Technology.
From three most selected designs comprising palm-leaf, lotus shape and bamboo material design, 26 consulting team members have chosen stylized lotus idea by South Korean Heerim Architects & Planners Co. Ltd.
ACV will work with the company to change some details in order to have a perfect design for Long Thanh terminal.
At the meeting, Minister Truong Quang Nghia required relevant sides to continue collecting opinions from ministries and agencies to find the best terminal plan before choosing a consulting firm to set up feasibility report. Design adjustments must base on rules of the airport’s design contest and copyright to ensure legality.
