Vietnam brings proposals to regional parliamentary meeting

Vietnam’s National Assembly delegation has brought a number of proposals to the 30th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) slated for August 2-8 in Thailand, the NA’s Committee for External Affairs said.

The committee said the proposals include ones about AIPA’s role in complementing the ASEAN Charter, its role in the global economic crisis, and Millennium goals.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong heads the Vietnam delegation. She is scheduled to deliver a speech on solidarity and cooperation to sustain the situation and overcome the crisis.

Vietnam will take up the Presidency of the 31st AIPA at the week-long meeting.
