Vietnam, China eye strategic partnership

The Party, State and people of Vietnam attach great importance to promoting friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China, considering it a constant and priority policy, said General Secretary Nong Duc Manh on March 20.

He was speaking at a reception for Chinese State Councilor Dai Binggou, who is in Hanoi for the 3rd session of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee on Cooperation.

Mr Manh highly appreciated the recent completion of land border demarcation and erection of boundary markers between Vietnam and China. He also welcomed the protocol signed yesterday on the establishment of a hotline between the top leaders of the two countries.

He also regarded Mr Dai’s visit as a new step to boost the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China. He hoped both countries would continue strengthening their cooperation in the spirit of “good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners.” 

Mr Dai expressed his pleasure at the positive development of bilateral relations, saying his visit is to further concrete the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.

He wished the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, would overcome difficulties and challenges to successfully implement the resolutions adopted by the 10th National Party Congress and gain greater achievements in the country’s development.

Mr Manh conveyed his best regards to General Secretary and President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, and other Chinese Party and State leaders.

Mr Dai also conveyed sincere regards from General Secretary and President Hu Jintao to Mr. Manh and other top leaders of Vietnam.
