Vietnam to control inflation below 4 percent this year

The Ministry of Finance on January 23 informed that the Government has determined to control prices so as to keep inflation at a level of 3.3-3.9 percent and core inflation at around 1.6-1.8 percent in 2019.

In order to achieve the aforesaid goals, the Steering Committee for Price Control asked ministries, industries and local authorities to closely watch movements of market prices, check and balance supply and demand to stabilize the market, especially on the occasion of holidays; ensure that goods supply and services meet consumers’ demand, especially at remote and rural areas, industrial parks and export processing zones where many workers mass up; and continue to run tight fiscal policies and active and flexible monetary policies.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly of Vietnam set an average inflation rise of around 4 percent for this year.
