The LOTUSat-1 system will be designed, manufactured by Japan's major satellite manufacturer NEC, expected to be launched to the orbit in 2023.

The human resources training and technology transfer will be performed at NEC’s facility in Japan.

This is the first earth observation satellite project for disaster and climate change countermeasures using earth observation satellite of Vietnam Space Center under coordination of the Japanese group.

The project will use ODA loans under a special provision for economic partners of Japan International Cooperation Agency – JICA.

The earth observation satellite weighs 600 kilograms, using the latest sensor and radar technology with many advantages such as detecting objects from 1 meter on the ground. Besides that, it will be able to observe both day and night.

In addition, LOTUSat-1 will take photos and provide the most accurate information to adapt to and minimize the impacts of natural disasters, climate change and serve natural resources management and environment monitoring.
