Village Customs and Conventions Revitalized to Protect Environment

An activity to protect environment

Revitalizing traditional values of village environmental customs and regulations in Viet Nam can help protect ecological environment and community surroundings as well as preserve humanity environment.

This is said at the workshop entitled “Revitalizing traditional values of village environmental customs and rules in Viet Nam”, held by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) in conjunction with Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Singapore-based Hanns Seidel Foundation.

The UNEP said that most Vietnamese villages and communes possess written or unwritten regulations and customs on environmental protection, and that where such documents are well kept, the environment is well preserved.

The conference was held on February 27 and 28 in Hue City with the participation of environmental experts and historians from Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.
