Under the agreement, Australia and the UK have pledged US$15 million to support Viet Nam with a technical assistance program.
The six-year “Beyond WTO Program”, aimed at sustainable development and poverty reduction through the implementation of Viet Nam's WTO commitments, will commence in 2007.
For the first phase of the program, donors will help Viet Nam formulate the government’s action plans aiming to seize opportunities offered by WTO membership as well as cope with potentially negative impacts on the poor and other vulnerable groups.
