VNese PM meets Malaysian & Myanmar leaders

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with Malaysian Prime Mininster Najib Tun Razak after he landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila capital of Philippines.

Vietnamese Prime Minister and a high- ranking delegation arrived in the Philippines to join the 30th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, at an invitation of Philippine President  Rodrigo Duterte.

At the meeting, the leaders agreed to enhance further the cooperation relationship in the fields of trade, investment, gas & oil seeking and exploitation; and strive for praising two- way trade turnover at US$ 20 billion by 2020.

Additionally, two sides were also unanimous in strengthening mutual military cooperation to ensure the regional maritime safety. The Malaysian leader said that the country’s functional agencies would ensure equitable and objective adjudication in accordance with Malaysian and international law as well as to ensure the legitimate rights of Vietnamese murder suspect  Doan Thi Huong in the death of Democratic People’s Republic of Korean citizen in Malaysia. 

On the part of the bilateral cooperation, the leaders exchanged problems mentioned by the world and regional countries, particular in the East Sea issue; stressed importance of peacekeeping, stability, security, maritime and aviation safety; and to unanimously solve conflicts via peace solutions, international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in 1982 and closely collaborate together to early attain a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

On the same day, PM Phuc also had another meeting with Myanmar Foreign Affairs Minister Aung San Suu Kyi. The two leaders urged negotiation toward signing potential- field cooperation agreements as trade, investment, finance, education and defense; and agreed to solve conflicts via peaceful measures. 

Earlier, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife visited Vietnamese community, staffs and officials working at Vietnam Embassy  in the Philippines.
