10th-Tenure Party Central Committee Elected

In the morning of April 24, the 10th National Party Congress entered its seventh working day at the Ba Dinh Meeting Hall; the list of winning candidates elected for the tenth-tenure Party Central Executive Committee (PCEC) was announced.

During delegate discussions, 1,553 opinions were contributed to the Document; 29 opinions were collected from discussions at the meeting hall.

On the same day, the Presidium read the feedback on delegates' ideas for the Congress document; the committee in charge of counting ballots announced the election result of the tenth-tenure PCEC and collected delegates’ ballots for the position of General Secretary.

On behalf of the Presidium, Politburo member Nguyen Phu Trong read the feedback on delegates' ideas for the Congress document.

Among the ideas, some need opinions from the Congress such as Congress theme, review on the implementation of the 9th-tenure Party Congress Resolution and the results of 20 years of renovation, the country’s risks, economic growth target for the period 2006-2010, socialism-oriented market economy, urgent social issues, economic sectors, industrialization and modernization, democratic improvement, construction of a socialist law-governed state, fight against corruption, and Party members doing business in the non-state sectors.

The Congress elected 106 official members and 21 alternate members of the tenth-tenure PCEC.

In the afternoon, the first meeting of the tenth-tenure PCEC took place; later, the 10th PCEC will elect the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Supervision Committee (CSC) and the head of CSC.

Particularly, on the basis of the list of candidates elected for the Politburo, the tenth-tenure PCEC will listen to the result of delegates’ ballots for the position of General Secretary to elect General Secretary of the tenth-tenure PCEC.
