Air temperature in Northern and Central regions exceeds 40- 41 degrees Celsius

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center reported that the whole country is experiencing a notable heatwave this year’s dry season.

Yesterday afternoon, hot weather triggered scorching temperatures as high as 39- 41 degrees Celsius in the Northern and Central regions.

In particular, temperatures in Muong La and Phu Yen (Son La province), Tuong Duong (Nghe An province), Huong Khe (Ha Tinh province) were measured between 40 and 41 degrees Celsius. 

The weather agency warned that the heatwave would continue building up due to an impact of a low- hot pressure zone from the westward to the eastward in combination with operation of dry and warm winds. 

Currently, the capital city of Hanoi is experiencing the warmest days with an average temperature of 35- 38 degrees Celsius, 1 or 2 degrees Celsius higher than the Southern region. 

The heatwave is predicted to last until April 24. 

It is the hottest days during this year’s dry season, so weather experts recommended people to not venture out unless necessary and work under the sun between 11am and 4pm, to drink a lot of water and ensure a balanced nutritional diet to strengthen the resistance left.

In case of the current hot, muggy and stuffy weather condition, the elderly and children need to take the initiatives in thermal comfort and cooling solutions, avoid thermal shock, hypertension, dehydrated body, exhaustion, stroke, etc. 

In recent days, many elderly and kids have been hospitalized due to heat- related diseases such as respiratory diseases in children, symptoms of sore throat and bronchitis, digestive disease, etc. 

From the middle of this month, Children Hospital No. 2 in HCMC has received around 4,500- 5,000 patients, including around 7 percent hospitalized due to the hot weather. 

Health experts explained that the hot weather was a main reason creating ease condition for virus inflection into body.
