Can Tho allows pupils absence from school due to high tide

In the recent days, the Mekong Delta provinces and cities have braced for large- scale flooding following the record-breaking high tides.

Amid the current situation, the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho city granted permission for a day off to pupils in tide- hit areas on October 1 in order to absolutely ensure their safety during the days of peak tide. 

According to the latest weather news of the Can Tho city’s hydro-meteorology Forecast Station, water levels on small- large riverbanks are expected to continue raising and peak on September 30 and October 1. 

The high tides are warned to happen at 6:00- 8:00 am at daytime and at 5:00- 7:00 pm in the evenings in row. 

In particular, the highest water level at Can Tho station’s Hau River is able to reach between 2.15 meters and 2.20 meters exceeding warning level 3 by 0.25 meter to 0.30 meter.
