Cold front brings heavy rains; rivers up in the north

The cold front moving in from southern China has caused moderate to heavy rains and rivers are rising in many northern provinces, the National Hydrometeorology Forecast Center has reported.

Most of the northern region and some north-central provinces are experiencing cold weather, with minimum temperatures dropping to 16-22oC, the center said.

The water level in many rivers between Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa Provinces is likely to rise up to alarm level III today, it said.

The weather bureau warned flash floods and landslides could occur in mountainous and low-lying lands in the region between Quang Binh and Phu Yen.
